Funding for Staff and Student Mobility to the University of Huelva
This program is developed by the European Commission with financial support organized by the Spanish Service for Internationalization of Education (SEPIE) within the Erasmus + Program, approved by the European Parliament in the financial framework 2021-2027. The new Erasmus Program prioritizes inclusion (persons with special needs and persons from disadvantaged backgrounds), the environment, digitalization and European values).
Student Mobility Call
The purpose of this call is to grant funding for 1 VIU Exchange Student studying for a period of 5 months duration at the University of Huelva (UHU) during the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
Staff Mobility Call
Application Deadline: February 2nd, 2023
The purpose of this call is to grant 3 places (to be occupied by academic/administrative staff employed at VIU) to carry out Erasmus Mobility for Training (STT) or Erasmus Mobility for Teaching Assignment (STA) in the UHU.
One staff mobility spot must take place before July 31st, 2025
Two staff mobility slots must take place before July 31st, 2026
Two of the mobility periods correspond to the 2023 Project 2023-1-ES01-KA171-HED-000131668. One mobility period corresponds to the 2022 Project 2022-1-ES01-KA171-HED-000076873.
- Interested applicants should contact edabroad@viu.ca for assistance in liaising with University of Huelva to develop a mobility proposal PIOR to submitting a grant application
- Applicants are encouraged to have at least a basic or functional level of Spanish in order to maximize the mobility opportunity. Applicants with an intermediate skill level in Spanish will be prioritized.
- Staff/Faculty Mobility will take place during the Spring or Fall semesters, for a five working day period. If possible, it should take place during UHU International Week (April 22-26, 2024). Mobility activities must be completed PRIOR to the end of:
- July 2025 (1 space)
- July 2026 (2 spaces)
- Student Mobility will take place during either semester of the 2024/2025 academic year
- Candidates should send complete applications to VIU International Education edabroad@viu.ca .by the deadline of March 5th, 2024 (students) or February 2nd, 2024 (staff and faculty)
- Successful recipients will receive financial assistance from University of Huelva to cover maintenance and travel costs during the period of mobility (see Grant Amount).
- Successful recipients will be responsible for travel and accommodation arrangements
- To participate in this call for mobility Erasmus +, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Teaching Staff: Be Employed at VIU for educational purposes, both at the time of application and when carrying out the mobility.
- Non-Teaching Staff: Be Employed at VIU, both at the time of application and when carrying out the mobility.
- The mobility must not take place in the country of residence of the participant, nor where they are pursuing studies or work.

- Submit completed Erasmus+ Mobility Grant application to edabroad@viu.ca by the deadline of March 5th, 2024 (students) or February 2nd, 2024 (staff and faculty)
- Candidates should submit the additional documents described in their respective guidelines for their application to be considered complete.
The process of selecting participants in VIU guarantees the principles of transparency, competition and equal competitive opportunities for all participants. The criteria for selecting participants are described below:
a) Average grade of university level studies: 60 points
b) Certified level of second language: 20 points
c) Motivation letter: 10 points
d) Any other information specified by the candidate (additional skills or skills, specific academic interest, vulnerable socio-economic situation, etc.): 10 points
Subsistence Expenses
This amount is set according to the country of destination and length of stay. Spain is included in Group 2 and mobilities contribution to this country is €850.00 per month for students and €160.00 per day for staff and faculty mobility visitors.
Travel Expenses
This amount is calculated by distance between the city of origin and the host university city. In the case of Vancouver Island, the allocated travel fund is €1500.00 per participant.
Funding Period
The maximum funding period is 5 Months for students and 5 days (plus 2 travel days) for staff and faculty mobility visitors.
